The Hong Kong Jockey Club is one of a handful of racing authorities globally that operates with the institutional rigour of a major financial regulator. Every race is documented, every incident reviewed, every timing record validated. For data teams, this translates into archive quality that is difficult to find elsewhere.
What the HRDB HK Dataset Contains
- Race results from 1979 — Finishing positions, times, margins, disqualifications
- Racecard data — Full pre-race entry list with weights, draw, gear, jockey and trainer
- Sectional times from 2008 — Furlong-by-furlong splits at Sha Tin and Happy Valley
- Dividend pools — Win, place, quinella, exacta, triple trio and other HKJC pool types
- Horse profiles — Country of origin, age, sire/dam, career win record
- Veterinary records — Where disclosed in official HKJC communications
- Gear declarations — Equipment worn per runner per race, historically tracked
Why Consistency Matters
The most important feature of any long-running dataset is schema consistency across time. A 1985 HK result in our archive uses the same field structure as a 2024 result. You do not need to write separate parsers for different seasons, handle encoding changes, or resolve field name drift year by year. The same query that works on last month’s data works on data from 1989.
Delivery and Access
The HK dataset is available as historical bulk exports (CSV, SQL) or via live API for daily updates. Full schema documentation is provided to all subscribers. View the HK dataset overview or start with the API.
